Overview

About this hardware

An all-in-one counter POS with two screens: an 8-inch portrait display facing the merchant and a 5-inch display facing the customer, so the cardholder sees the transaction as it happens. Built-in 80mm/s printer, dual cameras and PCI PTS 6.x certified security.

The Valor VP800 is a counter POS built around two screens. An 8-inch portrait touchscreen faces the person serving; a 5-inch touchscreen faces the customer. That second screen is the point of the device. The cardholder watches the amount, the tip prompt and the payment method as they happen, on a display of their own, rather than being handed a terminal and asked to trust what is on it. The chip card slot is vertical and reachable from both sides.

Underneath it is a proper Android machine: an eight-core 1.8 GHz processor with a separate Arm Cortex M3 security core, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, running Android 10. It prints at 80mm per second on 58mm rolls, has 2 MP cameras front and rear for QR and barcode payments, and runs on a 6000 mAh battery with a charging base, so a power cut or a counter rearrangement does not end trading.

Security is the strongest in our catalog. PCI PTS 6.x is the current generation of the PIN entry standard, and the VP800 holds it in every Valor document we have, alongside EMV L1 and L2, EMV Contactless L1 and a long list of scheme and regional certifications.

There is one thing to settle before ordering. Valor has published this brochure three times, and the newest edition describes different connectivity from the two before it. The 08/2024 and 04/2025 editions both list 4G, 3G and 2G mobile data, Bluetooth, satellite positioning and SIM, SAM and SD card slots. The 07/2025 edition lists Wi-Fi, GPRS and Ethernet, two SIM slots, and none of the rest.

Two editions ten months apart agreeing, and only the newest differing, looks like a hardware revision rather than a corrected document - and the newest edition adding Ethernet and a charging cradle where mobile data used to be suggests a mains-tethered variant. We have published every edition's reading side by side rather than choosing one. If you need mobile data, Bluetooth, GPS, or a SAM or SD slot, tell us and we will confirm the exact configuration with the manufacturer before you commit to anything.

Questions

About the Valor VP800

Will this work with my processing arrangement?
That is confirmed before anything is ordered. A terminal has to be certified for the acquiring arrangement your account runs on, and Apex checks that against your specific setup rather than assuming it.
Why are there no prices on these pages?
Hardware is quoted against how and where it will be used - how many units, whether they are bought or supplied with an account, and what has to integrate with them. A single published figure would be wrong more often than it was right, so we quote instead.
Why do some products show no specifications?
Apex publishes a specification only after it has been checked against product data. A record marked as an illustrative example represents a category of hardware we can source, and publishes nothing technical at all until there is something confirmed to publish.
What happens when a terminal fails?
Replacement and support terms are agreed as part of the arrangement rather than left to the day it matters. Ask about them before you order, not after.
